What to do and see around the Parc de la Roche Verte

In the heart of Finistère, in Berrien, the Parc de la Roche Verte and its lake make an ideal base for exploring the Monts d’Arrée, the wild and legendary land of the Armorique Regional Nature Park. Between granite boulder fields, windswept summits and characterful villages, the area can be explored on foot, by bike or on the water. With Playa-Rent, pick up a self-service paddle board or kayak on the lake with a simple QR code, with no booking and no queue — then set off to discover the treasures of the area.

The Huelgoat forest and boulder field

A few kilometres away, the Huelgoat forest is one of the most enchanting sites in Brittany: a chaos of huge granite boulders, the famous Roche Tremblante (trembling rock) that you can move with one hand, the Devil’s Grotto and a setting of moss and streams steeped in Arthurian legends. A must for lovers of nature and mystery.

Mont Saint-Michel de Brasparts

Perched at almost 380 metres on one of the highest summits in Brittany, the little Saint-Michel chapel watches over the moors of the Monts d’Arrée. The 360° panorama takes in the Bay of Douarnenez, the ridges and the Yeun Elez — magical at sunrise and sunset.

Roc’h Trevézel and the ridges of the Monts d’Arrée

Another high point of the area, Roc’h Trevézel raises its quartzite crests above the low moorland. A short climb leads to a vast view over the Léon and the north coast. Ideal for a wild hike, facing the wind.

The Moulins de Kerouat, in Commana

This Monts d’Arrée ecomuseum brings a restored millers’ hamlet back to life: watermills, houses, a bread oven and gardens tell the story of rural life in the past. A lively, family-friendly visit in the heart of the Armorique Regional Nature Park.

Lac de Brennilis and the Yeun Elez

On the doorstep of Berrien, the Saint-Michel reservoir and the Yeun Elez peat bogs form an enchanting landscape of moors and marshes. Known as the "gateway to Hell" in Breton legends, it is a top spot for walks and nature watching.

Morlaix, town of art and history

A little further north, Morlaix charms visitors with its gigantic viaduct, cobbled lanes and pondalez houses. A lovely urban and heritage getaway, perfect for rounding off a nature break in the Monts d’Arrée.
