Le Ster beach

In Kérity, Le Ster offers almost 4 km of pale sand with a Caribbean feel, facing due south towards the Étocs archipelago. Supervised in summer and well equipped (car park, showers, playground), it is perfect for both swimming and launching onto the water.

The Eckmühl lighthouse

A few minutes from the beach, this Kersanton stone giant, inaugurated in 1897, is one of the tallest lighthouses in Europe at 65 metres. Its 307 steps lead to a breathtaking view over the Bay of Audierne, the Pointe de Penmarc’h and the rocky barrier of the Étocs. Combine it with a half-day of paddleboarding.

The Étocs archipelago and the Pointe de Penmarc’h

Facing Le Ster, the Étocs reefs and the Pointe de Penmarc’h form a wild setting, a kingdom of seabirds. From the beach, you can paddle along this jagged coastline — preferably in calm seas and at slack tide, keeping a safe distance from the rocks.

The port of Kérity and Notre-Dame-de-la-Joie

Close to the beach, the small port of Kérity has kept the charm of Bigouden fishing villages. Nearby, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Joie chapel, facing the ocean to protect sailors, has watched over the coast since the 15th century.

The port of Le Guilvinec

About ten kilometres away, Le Guilvinec is one of the major small-scale fishing ports in France. At Haliotika, the Cité de la Pêche, you can visit the fish auction and watch the trawlers return in the late afternoon — an authentic experience after a morning of paddleboarding.

Saint-Guénolé and the Prehistory museum

At the other end of the beach, the port of Saint-Guénolé and its ocean-battered rocks make for a striking setting. Nearby, the Musée de la Préhistoire finistérienne, one of the oldest in France, takes you into the rich megalithic past of the Pays Bigouden.
